Uzoamaka Kimberly Ezendu Dike, MD, DABOM, PNS, (last name pronounced Dee-kay) is a Nigerian American physician, medical journalist, social entrepreneur, global health leader, philanthropist and fashion designer. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma, majoring in Biochemistry and African/African American Studies with minors in Zoology and Spanish. She later pursued a Masters in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Southern Methodist University, ultimately, matriculating at Drexel University College of Medicine, where she earned a Doctor of Medicine degree. She completed her internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHealth) at Houston and formal fellowship training in Clinical Nutrition at the #2 Cancer Center in the United States, the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute, in New York City, where she simultaneously trained in weight management. She completed her Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship training at North Shore University Hospital/Long Island Jewish Medical Center at Northwell Health, in New York. After fellowship she relocated to Los Angeles, California, and joined the premier practice Cedars-Sinai Gastroenterology Santa Monica, where she currently serves her community.
She is currently triple-board certified; she is board certified in Internal Medicine, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and of the National Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists, and is soon to be board-certified in Gastroenterology, given her completion of training.
Dr. Dike is a highly trained gastroenterologist with a clinical focus on general gastroenterology, clinical nutrition, obesity medicine, weight management, and steatotic liver disease. As a skillful endoscopist, she is very meticulous, precise, and gentle with her procedures and interventions. Dr. Dike is committed to utilizing her unique training background, evidence-based medicine, and innovation to provide high-quality, individualized patient care with great compassion, while educating her patients to help them make well-informed decisions regarding their care, health, and wellness. She is the Founder, CEO, and President of Kuzoma, an innovative health and wellness company that emphasizes general health with a primary focus on nutrition and weight management. Dr. Dike, through endeavors including, though not limited to, medical media and the development of health programs and policies, is helping people live healthier lives, increasing health awareness, tackling health disparities, and spurring the action needed to ensure a more sustainable future across the globe for all people.
Her training as a medical doctor and clinical investigator combined with her cultural competence and social awareness intertwined with her spirit of service and her compassionate, charismatic personalty distinguish Dike. Her active engagement in medical media and clinical medicine allows her to stay abreast the latest medical and health news and developments, facilitating her ability to address an array of medical issues as well as deliver impactful, credible stories. She is the Founder and Executive Director of The Kimberly Dike Foundation, a Nonprofit Organization dedicated to ensuring sustainable health in Nigeria. She was also appointed by the American College of Gastroenterology’s Board of Trustees to serve on their International Committee and ultimately promoted as its Co-chair of Social Media. Dr. Dike has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Student National Medical Association and as an Ambassador for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) & American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Summer Health Professions Education Program in efforts to diversify the medical and dental industries such that they reflect the diverse community that we live in.
Her work and contributions include working with ABC News as a member of their Medical Unit as well as publications and presentations in prestigious journals and conferences such as the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Scientific Meeting; Digestive Disease Week; Infectious Disease Week: Infectious Disease Society of America; Blood, Journal of the American Society of Hematology; and JSLS: Journal of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, among others.
A true Renaissance woman, Dr. Dike is equally passionate about fashion and music as she is health and wellness. Her deep love for the artistry of fashion is reflected in her daily living. She is a designer and the creative director for a fashion house that is anticipating its launch in the near future. This cake connoisseur also finds joy in spending quality time with her family and friends, singing, songwriting, making music, dancing, gymnastics and soccer, art, horses, altruistic travel, exploring different cultures, food, languages, reading, and writing. Dr. Kimberly Dike, a gentle lady, though full of grit with exceptional work-ethic, is a hard-working woman whose deep-rooted faith in God guides her everyday life.
